Healthcare Instructor

The Healthcare Instructor provides instruction over the afternoon EKG and evening STNA classes, with the flexibility of relieving and assisting with Phlebotomy classes in case of illness. Duties include planning lessons, monitoring skills, and assessing student progress on an ongoing basis, and collecting, recording, and reporting all necessary information related to students promptly. 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Teaches the EKG/Phlebotomy curriculum certified through MedCA, and STNA curriculum according to Ohio Dept of Health.  

  • May need to update curriculum to best practices, lesson plans, and teaching materials to aid students in developing skills and confidence in healthcare areas.  

  • Integrates computer-aided instruction into lessons as appropriate.  

  • Teaches hands-on skills in the healthcare courses. 

  • Attends Clinical sites with students and oversees for safety. 

  • Attends skills lab testing for the safety of students and volunteers. 

  • Collects, records, and reports all necessary information related to students.   

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS 

  • Associate degree in nursing but bachelor's degree in nursing preferred. 

  • Experience working with adult and High School learners.  

  • CPR Certification and Bloodborne Pathogen certification 

  • Train the Trainer Certification to teach STNA- required or needed within 3 months of employment. 

  • Registered Nurse with an active license for the state of Ohio 

  • At least 2 years’ experience in the Hospital setting or nursing home setting, with the most recent experience within the last year. 

  • Ability to perform an EKG test, venipuncture, and basic skills of activities of daily living.
