Career Coach

Assist potential students applying for courses, training, or education at our facility. The ideal candidate must understand policies and training programs well enough to provide quality advice and counseling to applicants, converting them to our database. The candidate should possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work closely with applicants and students. Responsibilities also include case management, outreach, and attending recruiting events. 

ESSENTIAL TASKS: 

  • Meet individually with students to assess skill level, industry experience, and educational/training needs. 

  • Guide participants through individualized career plans. 

  • Collaborate with instructors to enhance job readiness and employability. 

  • Aid in resume and cover letter development, identify employment opportunities, and assist with the application/interview process. 

  • Interface with employers to gather feedback and maintain successful employment. 

  • Input and maintain student information and progress in our data management system. 

  • Promote the school through community engagement and relationship-building activities. 

  • Recruit potential new students. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

ACCOUNTABILITY: 

  • Attend all staff meetings. 

  • Submit bi-weekly reports to the Program Manager. 

  • Maintain the database and files. 

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: 
Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred. 
Experience: Recent experience in student support and career exploration, preferably with mentoring, student placement, or business and industry exposure. Equivalent education and work experience may be considered. 

COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, and Outlook. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Experience in a mentoring/advising role. 

  • Strong verbal communication skills. 

  • Ability to identify weaknesses and develop growth plans. 

  • Knowledge of workforce and industry trends in Central Ohio. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
