CO-FOUNDER PAMELA GREGORY NAMED CENTRAL OHIO WOMAN OF THE YEAR BY THE NATIONAL DIVERSITY COUNCIL

COLUMBUS, OH- The National Center for Urban Solutions (NCUS) is excited to announce its co-founder and chief financial officer, Pamela Gregory, has been named Central Ohio Woman of the Year for the Central Ohio Women in Leadership Symposium. The National Diversity Council selected Gregory for this special honor. Pamela Gregory will formally receive the award at the Central Ohio Women in Leadership Symposium on March 13th, 2024, at COSI in Columbus, Ohio.

Pamela and her husband John have worked tirelessly for over 25 years serving urban communities through their social enterprise, National Center for Urban Solutions. Together, they have lifted tens of thousands of individuals off government assistance into self-sufficiency, founded charter schools and technical education centers, as well as a national wellness agency aimed at reducing health disparities faced by African American men and women.

Pamela Gregory’s latest project, Uplift Her, is taking off at light speed. Founded in 2021, the initiative aims to increase health and wellness for women of color who are more likely to suffer from breast cancer, heart disease, and stroke. The program provides women with free health screenings to lower their health risks. In 2023, Uplift Her held events in Columbus, Ohio and Houston, Texas - reaching thousands of women.

The theme for this year’s symposium is “Leading with Heart: Empathy, Ethics & Excellence." The Ohio Diversity Council writes the event aims to inspire, educate, and empower women to thrive in leadership roles and to promote gender equity and inclusivity in the workplace. In recent years, Gregory has worked to empower and inspire women in the workplace and recently organized an event where women of color in Central Ohio could gather, network, and develop mentorships.

Pamela Gregory was recently named one of the 2024 Women WELDing the Way Honorees by the Women for Economic and Leadership Development and received the 2023 Sarah Elizabeth Smith Community Award for Education and Health Promotion by the Gamma Eta Chapter of the Chi Eta Phi sorority. As her list of accomplishments grows, her passion does not waver. “I am driven by my calling. There is no other word for it," says Gregory.
