NCUS TEC RECEIVES FUNDING FOR ADVANCED MANUFACTURING TRAINING AND EMPLOYMENT PLACEMENT PROGRAM

COLUMBUS, OHIO - NCUS TEC is thrilled to announce the expansion of the Untapped Manufacturing Program Pittsburgh (UMPP), made possible through generous funding from the Richard King Mellon Foundation. UMPP is aimed at providing manufacturing career training for residents across the Pittsburgh region. The core elements of the UMPP design include collaborations with local industry partners and local employers to implement both short-term and long-term job and skills training strategies. These strategies are designed to prepare individuals for growing occupations in advanced manufacturing.

This initiative is a mutual benefit for the Pittsburgh community, providing new education and job opportunities for residents and developing a workforce pipeline that employers seek to recruit and retain untapped talent. These customized, employer-designed career pathway programs will ensure individuals have the necessary in-demand skills, resources, pre-apprenticeship training, employment placement and ongoing career coaching.

"We are grateful to receive funding from the Richard King Mellon Foundation so we can provide residents in the Pittsburgh region career opportunities in the manufacturing industry," said Perry Gregory, Senior Vice President of Workforce at NCUS. "The new-collar job is a crucial need, and this program will give people access to the skills and the professional development needed for emerging manufacturing careers in the Pittsburgh region."

This program aims to engage over 100 residents, aged 18 and older, from underserved communities in Pittsburgh. Through accelerated advanced skilled job training and industry credentialing, participants will improve their soft skills and learn in-demand technical skills to gain employment in high-growth technical careers, all while being supported with wrap-around services. By implementing promising workforce strategies, NCUS TEC aims to reduce equity and wealth gaps, providing participants with sustainable income to support themselves and their families.
